Guide for businesses

How much does a restaurant website cost?

By Alex MG Studio · · 5 min read

Quick answer

A professional website for a restaurant or bar costs, as a rough guide, between €150 and €1,000 if it is built by an independent designer, depending on whether it includes a digital menu, copy and local SEO, and more if you need bookings with a calendar or several pages. On top of that come the domain (around €10–20 a year) and the hosting, always in the restaurant’s name.

For a restaurant, the website is often the first thing a customer sees before deciding where to eat. These are the usual prices and what it simply must have.

Guide prices

Type of websiteGuide priceIncludes
One-page website€150–600Menu, photos, opening hours, map and WhatsApp or call booking buttons
Website with persuasive copy and local SEO€300–1,000All of the above, optimised to appear in local searches and on Google Maps
Website with calendar bookings or several pages€500–2,000Booking system, several menus, events or groups

These are common ranges in Spain for independent designers; every professional sets their own prices, so always ask for a fixed quote.

What a restaurant website should have

  • The menu, easy to read on a phone. With prices and kept up to date.
  • A booking button for WhatsApp or phone, always visible.
  • Opening hours, address and map, with a button to open the route in Google Maps.
  • Good photos of the dishes and the venue.
  • Set menu, tapas or events, if you have them.
  • The legal texts: legal notice, privacy and cookies.

The menu: better on the website than in a PDF

A PDF is hard to read on a phone: you have to zoom in, it takes time to load and Google understands its content less well. A menu written on the website itself can be read at a glance, updated in minutes and helps you appear when someone searches for a dish or type of cuisine in your area. What’s more, the same menu works for the QR code on the tables.

Bookings: WhatsApp, phone or your own system

For most bars and restaurants, a direct button to WhatsApp or to call is the most practical option: customers book in one tap and you pay no commission. If you get a lot of bookings or groups, a system with a calendar saves you time. Bear in mind that some booking platforms charge a monthly fee or a commission on each booking.

Don’t forget allergens

Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 requires customers to be informed about the allergens in dishes. If you publish your menu on your website, it’s a good idea to show them next to each dish or explain how to check them.

Website and Google Maps, always together

Most customers reach a restaurant through Google Maps. Linking your listing to a fast website with the same address and phone number helps Google show you higher up. I explain it in how to appear on Google Maps, and here you can see how I build websites for restaurants and bars.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website for a small bar cost?

A one-page website with the menu, photos, opening hours and a booking button usually costs between €150 and €600, plus the domain and hosting in the bar’s name.

Is it better to put the menu in a PDF or on the website?

On the website: it reads better on a phone, loads faster, can be updated in minutes and Google understands its content. The PDF can stay as an optional download.

Does my restaurant need a booking system?

Not always. For most, a button to WhatsApp or to call is enough. A calendar system pays off if you get a lot of bookings or groups.
