Guide for businesses

How long does it take to build a website?

By Alex MG Studio · · 4 min read

Quick answer

A simple one-page website can be ready in 48 hours to a week if the business provides the information on time. A corporate website with several pages usually takes 2 to 4 weeks, and an online shop or a custom project 1 to 3 months. What delays a project most is almost never the design: it’s the copy and the photos.

Guide timescales by type of website

Type of websiteUsual timescale
One-page website (landing page) for a local business48 hours – 1 week
Corporate website with 4–8 pages2 – 4 weeks
Website with bookings or a calendar1 – 3 weeks
Online shop1 – 3 months

What really delays a website

  1. The copy. Writing about your own business is harder than it seems. If the designer writes it for you, the project moves much faster.
  2. The photos. Waiting to “take good photos” can hold a project up for weeks. You can start with decent photos and improve them later.
  3. Endless revisions. That’s why it’s good for the quote to state how many rounds of changes are included.
  4. The domain and access details. Having the domain details to hand (or registering it from scratch) saves days.

How it’s possible to have a website in about 48 hours

At Alex MG Studio, for a simple website, delivery usually takes about 48 hours (the exact timescale depends on the job and is confirmed in the quote). It works like this:

  1. A short conversation (phone or email) to understand your business.
  2. You send me the basics: services, contact details and, if you have them, photos.
  3. I design and build the website; if you don’t have any copy, I write it.
  4. You review it, we make any adjustments you need and I publish it on your own domain and hosting.

The secret isn’t working in a rush, but having a clear process and a proven structure for local businesses. This is how the process works.

What to prepare so your website is ready sooner

  • A list of services or products and, if you like, prices.
  • Opening hours, address, phone number and WhatsApp.
  • Your logo (if you don’t have one, you can start with the name).
  • 5–10 photos of your business, your team or your work.
  • Websites you like, as a reference.

And at Alex MG Studio? I work with three fixed-price plans for businesses all over Spain:

  • Basic Plan, €149 + VAT: a one-page, mobile-friendly website with WhatsApp and call buttons, published on your domain.
  • Business Plan, €290 + VAT: all of the above plus persuasive copy, local SEO and set-up in Google Search Console.
  • Pro Plan, €490 + VAT: everything above with several pages, bookings or a calendar and custom animations.
  • Optional maintenance, €19 + VAT a month: monthly changes, checks and backups, with no minimum term.

Payment: 25% when we start and 75% before delivery. The domain and hosting are registered in your business’s name, so the website is 100% yours.

Frequently asked questions

Can a website be built in a day?

Technically, a very simple website can, but the whole process (understanding the business, copy, review and publishing) normally takes at least 48 hours.

How long does Google take to show my new website?

It usually takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks to index it. Submitting the sitemap from Google Search Console helps speed it up.

Do I need to have the copy ready?

It isn’t essential. Many designers, as at Alex MG Studio, write the copy based on a short conversation with you.
